Jute Rug Review: The softest natural jute rugs we could find

As a designer, I can tell you first hand that not all jute rugs are made equal!!  Some shed, some are scratchy – but here at Amethyst….we pride ourselves on being jute rug connoisseurs who have tried them all so you don't have to!

All Amethyst jute rugs must have the following qualities:

-look elevated and beautiful enough to hold their own in a well-designed space

-minimal shedding (no clumps allowed)

-soft enough to walk on barefoot

-have that extra special artisan design that you can't find in a big box store

Here are the top Amethyst jute rugs for a sophisticated natural look that won't drive you crazy over time.

The Layered Look

We love how this Joelle Elaine Design project came together featuring our soft, woven jute rug layered with this funky coastal blue rug.

This jute is soft and chunky underfoot – and comes in a wide range of sizes and shapes!  It's an Amethyst staple.

Another reason to layer?

Sometimes when our clients fall in love with an extra special hand-knotted rug – we recommend layering it with a jute to stay in budget!

An Organic Feeling

If you easily tire of patterns and colors, a jute rug gives you that organic modern look without feeling too trendy.

This Vero rug is an Amethyst fave because if you look closely, you'll notice the design is made up of small braided channels which gives the rug its smooth and super soft feel.

Fun fact: this photo was taken after hundreds of people walked through this mudroom for the 2020 Kansas City Artisan Home Tour.  We love how soft & durable it is!

A jute rug isn't known for being the most practical rug under a dining table but if you crave this coastal, laidback look like us then it's a game changer!

Another “layer” we love is the Monaco rug.  It's technically reversible – you'll find that it has a warm side and cool side.  Shopping for rugs online can be tricky so we love that you have options to choose the side that's your favorite!

It's nice and flat which makes it great for high traffic areas.  While it's not silky smooth, it feels good and has a tight weave.
